The Easter Bunny

Every year at this time a debate launches into how the Christian religious festival of Easter can be represented by a mythical rabbit, known as the Easter Bunny.

The Easter Bunny, just like Santa Claus at Christmas brings gifts to children who have been good, but what does this have to do with the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Some attribute the origin of the Easter Bunny to pre-Christian fertility lore, some attribute it to the use of the Hare in Christian iconography representing fertility.

The Easter Bunny's continued appearance at Easter, sometimes upstaging the what is to some, the main event can be traced back to very ancient pagan festivals, although the specific appearance fo the Easter Bunt was first documented in Germany around 1600.

The rabbit and hare have long been symbols of new life that is associated with Spring and the Resurrection.
