A cheap solar oven has won first prize in a green competition sponsored by Forum of the Future, a sustainable development charity. The "Kyoto Box" is made from cardboard and can be used for sterilising water, boiling or baking food.
Its Kenyan based inventor hopes that the solar oven will make solar cooking widespread in the developing world so helping to reduce deforestation, an increasing problem.
The Solar Oven is made from two cardboard boxes, which use reflective foil and black paint to maximise absorption of solar energy.
The prize won by the solar oven was £$75000
